Welcome to The Plough, Wingfield

Nestled in the charming Bedfordshire hamlet of Wingfield, The Plough is a 19th-century, thatched-roof country venue that looks as though it has been lifted straight from a picture postcard—quintessentially English in every sense. With its whitewashed walls, traditional windows, and inviting front door, it offers an immediate sense of warmth, drawing you in to pause, unwind, and feel completely at home.

While The Plough is primarily a private hire venue, we are also pleased to open as a traditional pub at selected times. We welcome visitors at weekends when the venue is not booked for private events, offering a relaxed and friendly setting to enjoy a drink. During the week, we are generally not open as a public pub unless there is a special event taking place, such as major sporting occasions including the World Cup or similar. For the latest opening times, pop-up pub days, and event news, we’d love you to join us on Facebook at The Plough Wingfield, where we share regular updates and what’s coming up next.

As you step inside, the character of The Plough wraps around you. In the colder months, the soft glow and gentle warmth of the open fire beneath the low, timbered beams are often the first things you notice. Comfortable seating, warm lighting, and a naturally cosy atmosphere make it the kind of place where you can linger, relax, and truly unwind.

When the days grow longer, our spacious private garden opens up to uninterrupted views across the surrounding countryside. It is a peaceful, tucked-away spot to meet family and friends, share good conversation, and enjoy a drink while you soak up the beauty of rural Bedfordshire.

We are easy to find, yet feel a world away. Just five minutes from Junction 11A of the M1, and within easy reach of Toddington, Houghton Regis, Dunstable, and Luton, The Plough Wingfield offers a welcoming little escape whenever you need it.

As a proud free house, we offer a lovingly curated selection of drinks to suit every taste, including a variety of beers, lagers, ciders, wines, and spirits, alongside a full range of non-alcoholic and soft options. Being a free house means we can regularly introduce new and interesting choices for you to discover, and we are especially proud to serve our signature pint, Felinfoel,
A Taste From The Valleys.

Our aim is simple: to create the perfect venue for every occasion, from dignified funerals and wakes to joyful weddings, parties, and celebrations. Whatever the event, we work with you to ensure it feels personal, comfortable, and beautifully looked after.

We may not be what everyone imagines when they think of traditional owners, and to us The Plough Wingfield is a cherished place we feel privileged to look after. If you’re curious then please read our full story. Until then, we look forward to welcoming you, getting to know you, and sharing this little corner of England that we are lucky enough to call our own.
