Whatever next… Funeral Directors buying a pub?
Heritage Funerals Ltd began over a Sunday lunch in July 2018, with a simple question:-
Could we offer something better for our local community than the funeral services already available?
By April 2019 our doors were open, and since then it’s been a privilege to support families through some of life’s most difficult moments, always aiming to “make a difficult time easier.”​​
Along the way, we saw something else: families were struggling to find welcoming, local venues for wakes and gatherings, and many wanted more personal options than a crematorium or church especially with rising funeral costs. At the same time, venues for birthdays and other special occasions were becoming harder to find and more expensive.
​So, while others opened more branches, we bought The Plough in Wingfield.

Set in the Bedfordshire countryside, The Plough is a beautiful old Grade II listed, thatched country building that we wanted to save from development and bring back to life. Our aim is simple: to create The Perfect Venue whatever the occasion from intimate farewells to relaxed celebrations.

We offer a warm, welcoming space with great food, good company and a relaxed atmosphere. For weddings, our dedicated wedding planner can help you create a personal countryside celebration with exclusive use of the venue. And for day-to-day life, we’ll be running our own events and welcoming locals in for a drink on Sunday evenings and on other days as shown on our Facebook page.
